In December, we publicly launched Voronoi, our free new data storytelling app!
The initial response from both users and creators has been incredible. In fact, there are already hundreds of interesting visualizations to discover there, many of which will not be published on Visual Capitalist.
For that reason, we’ve chosen to highlight some of the most popular visualizations in this roundup. To see them all and many others, make sure to download the app!

Formerly Popular Male Names That Died Off
Why do some names seem to have eternal staying power, while other names eventually fall out of favor with the public?
In this post, creator Memetic shows popular boy names that eventually disappeared from mainstream culture. There appears to be some correlation with global events and cultural phenomena, but in many cases it could also just be a coincidence.
For example, the name Ernest used to be the 28th most popular male name in the United States. Years after the movie Ernest Goes to Camp was released, however, it dropped out of the top 1000 most-used names for good.

The most liked visual on Voronoi in December came from Visual Capitalist, and detailed the “Magnificent Seven” stocks.
Four of the five FAANG stocks retain their place amongst the Magnificent Seven, with newcomers Nvidia, Tesla, and Microsoft joining the group.
Following a poor 2022 performance and having more difficulty capitalizing on tech trends, Netflix is the sole FAANG company not included.
