How we listen to music has evolved and changed over time, and Spotify now stands as the top platform for artists to share their music.

Paid music streaming services like Spotify make up the lion’s share of today’s music revenue, accounting for 84% industry of the U.S. music industry’s revenue in 2022.

Which Artists Were Streamed The Most on Spotify?

Puerto Rican reggaeton artist Bad Bunny is the only artist to achieve a three-peat as Spotify’s top artist. In 2021, Bad Bunny didn’t release a new album and still took the title of most-streamed artist.

Bad Bunny is also the first non-English language act to become Spotify’s top-streamed artist of the year.

Canadian rapper Drake has also topped the list three times, and is currently the most streamed artist of all-time on Spotify.

Many of these top-streamed artists also hold multiple songs with over 1 billion streams as of 2022, including Ed Sheeran, Post Malone, and Drake.

Taylor Swift is Spotify’s Top Artist in 2023

So far, Taylor Swift is the only female artist to have topped the list over the past 10 years with an astounding 26.1 billion Spotify streams in 2023.

The pop superstar had a packed 2023, marked by her record-breaking Eras Tour and the release of two re-recorded albums, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) recorded the highest number of streams for an album in a single day in 2023, according to Spotify.

Currently, the album ranks third overall in single-day album streams, with Swift’s 2024 release, The Tortured Poets Department, and her 2022 album, Midnights, holding the first and second spots, respectively.
