With airlines constantly cutting costs to meet profit goals, finding the best deals with a guarantee of quality service can be challenging.
This graphic ranks the top airlines in 2024 by customer satisfaction, based on data from the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI).
Using a three-question survey, the ACSI measures customer satisfaction for various goods and services. Brands receive a score between 0 and 100, with 100 being the best possible score:
- How satisfied are you with the service?
- How well did the service meet your expectations?
- How did it compare to an ideal service?
A Tough Year for United Airlines
United was the only airline that saw its score decrease from 2023.
The airline was regularly in the news this past year for various safety incidents, including on March 7, when a tire fell off its Boeing 777-200 and landed in a parking lot at Los Angeles International Airport.
For a detailed review, USA Today has compiled a timeline of United’s incidents throughout 2024.
Airline | 2024 Score | % Change from last year |
Alaska | 82 | 1 |
American | 79 | 1 |
Southwest | 78 | 0 |
Allegiant | 78 | 4 |
JetBlue | 77 | 1 |
Delta | 77 | 1 |
United | 75 | -3 |
Frontier | 69 | 3 |
Spirit | 67 | 5 |
Meanwhile, Alaska Airlines tops the list. As the sixth-largest airline in North America by passengers carried, the company consistently performs well in customer surveys, particularly for its high rewards rates.
As a standout feature, Alaska Airlines allows passengers to bring a carry-on bag for free, regardless of the fare type.
