Two Indian immigrants appear within America’s most powerful business leaders (Sundar Pichai at Google and Satya Nadella at Microsoft) and there are six members of Indian origin in Congress—informally known as the Samosa Caucus.
Not to mention of course, Vice-President Kamala Harris.
Meanwhile, Middle Eastern countries like UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait also have large Indian populations due to foreign worker demand kickstarted by the 1970s oil boom. Now, nearly one-third of all foreign workers in the Middle East are Indian.
A big consequence of this massive diaspora is massive remittances. Indians working abroad collectively sent back more than $100 billion in 2023, setting a record.
