In 2024, the global number of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) with at least $10 million in net worth surpassed 2.3 million.

While these millionaires live all around the globe, it’s a handful of countries that are home to the vast majority of them.

This infographic ranks the top 10 countries by the number of HNWIs in 2024, highlighting where the world’s wealthy reside, based on data from Knight Frank’s 2025 Wealth Report.

Which Countries Have the Most HNWIs?

The top 10 countries are home to 82% of all of the world’s HNWIs, underscoring the concentration of global wealth in a few nations.

Here’s how the number of high-net-worth individuals stacks up by country:

China ranks second with nearly 472,000 HNWIs or 20% of the global total, leading other Asian countries by a large margin. However, China was also projected to see the biggest outflow (emigration) of millionaires in the world in 2024.

Japan and India round out the top four, while Hong Kong, at #10, also represents a key Asian wealth hub. On the European front, Germany, the UK, and France remain significant centers of high-net-worth individuals.

From a regional perspective, North America and Asia together host 78% of all HNWIs. These two regions also saw the biggest uptick in the HWNI growth from 2023 to 2024 at around 5% each, with Europe seeing a more modest 1.4% growth.
