Alasdair is an internationally recognized mapmaker, data analyst, author and visual storyteller. Formerly a Professor of Urban Studies and Planning in the UK, he now runs Automatic Knowledge, a UK-based data, analysis and training company. Alasdair's mapping and spatial analysis work regularly features in the international news media and his maps have been viewed and shared by millions of people worldwide. He is the co-author of three books, more than 20 academic papers, and regularly shares his work via his popular Twitter account. Alasdair has conducted research and analysis for a wide variety of national and international organizations and he continues to teach via his popular Udemy courses. The focus of his public engagement work is education, information and illumination.
